The Challenge
As DeepIDV continued scaling its AI-powered identity verification platform, the organization identified an opportunity to further improve verification experiences for users submitting identity documents across a wide range of devices and environments.
Variations in camera resolution, lighting, and image clarity can affect the amount and quality of text extracted from identity documents. DeepIDV sought to make its verification workflow more resilient to these real-world conditions while maintaining the data integrity, security, and efficiency required for sensitive identity information.
The initiative also supported DeepIDV’s broader growth strategy by creating an intelligent fallback path capable of improving accessibility and scaling alongside increasing verification volumes.
The Problem
DeepIDV sought a scalable way to improve optical character recognition reliability when identity documents could not be confidently processed on the first attempt. The solution needed to enhance document clarity without altering underlying identity information, maintain sensitive image processing within DeepIDV’s AWS environment, and integrate efficiently with the company’s existing Amazon Textract workflow.
The Solution
RevStar partnered with DeepIDV to design an AI-powered image enhancement production accelerator that adds an intelligent fallback layer to its existing identity verification workflow.
Using Amazon SageMaker, the solution enhances document clarity before images are reprocessed through Amazon Textract, creating an additional path for recovering text from challenging submissions. The workflow was designed to preserve original document information while improving characteristics such as contrast, sharpness, and text clarity without generative reconstruction or facial alteration.
The AWS-native architecture keeps sensitive identity documents within DeepIDV’s environment while providing a scalable foundation for future verification growth. RevStar also established before-and-after OCR testing, latency measurement, and cost analysis to help DeepIDV evaluate performance and guide future production scaling decisions.
