How PinkDx Built a Scalable Bioinformatics Foundation to Advance the Future of Gynecologic Cancer Diagnostics

The Client

PinkDx, The Gyne Cancer Company™, is a molecular diagnostics company working to transform how gynecologic cancers are detected and diagnosed. The company combines real-world clinical data, whole-transcriptome sequencing, and machine learning to develop more patient-centered approaches to some of the most persistent challenges in women’s cancer diagnostics.

Starting with endometrial cancer, PinkDx is developing a test designed to detect molecular signals associated with the disease from a simple, non-invasive vaginal swab. Its peer-reviewed research has demonstrated the scientific potential of this approach, and the company is now advancing multi-center clinical validation as it works toward bringing its first diagnostic product to market.

As PinkDx moves from scientific discovery toward clinical validation and commercialization, the company is investing in scalable technology infrastructure capable of supporting the rigorous genomic processing, machine learning, traceability, and operational requirements of a production diagnostics environment.

DESCRIPTION

RevStar partnered with PinkDx to establish a scalable foundation for its genomic processing and machine learning workflows. The solution automates bioinformatics processing, quality-control, and machine learning analysis while creating the traceability and operational foundation needed to support clinical validation and future commercial scale.

RESULTS

Established a production-ready cloud foundation that automates genomic processing, supports growing validation demands, and can evolve alongside PinkDx as the company advances toward commercialization and expands its technology needs.

The Challenge

As PinkDx advanced its endometrial cancer diagnostic toward clinical validation, the company reached a critical stage in its technology journey. Its bioinformatics and machine learning workflows had been developed within an R&D environment, but the next phase required a scalable cloud foundation capable of supporting the rigor, repeatability, and traceability expected of a production diagnostics environment.

As validation volumes grow, these components need to operate reliably across multiple environments while supporting concurrent sequencing workloads and minimizing manual infrastructure management.

PinkDx sought to establish an automated, cost-conscious cloud foundation that could support its upcoming validation milestones while creating a clear path toward future commercial scale.

The Solution

RevStar partnered with PinkDx to architect a scalable AWS-native environment for its genomic processing and machine learning workflows.

AWS HealthOmics and AWS Step Functions automate the complex processing behind PinkDx’s diagnostic, connecting genomic analysis, quality-control, and machine learning into a repeatable workflow that can scale as validation volumes grow. RevStar also incorporated Kiro to accelerate architecture and implementation, working alongside PinkDx’s Data/AI team to operationalize its classifier and validation workflows.

The architecture was designed not only for PinkDx’s current validation needs, but for the increasing scale and complexity that comes with bringing a diagnostic to market. Automated deployment, monitoring, and documentation further reduce reliance on manual infrastructure management while providing the consistency and traceability required for PinkDx’s validation path.

The Team

We have a growing cost-effective hybrid team, with onshore Product Managers and developers from our build center in Colombia. Operating three parallel teams for different products and support.

Results

RevStar helped PinkDx establish the technology foundation needed to advance its cancer diagnostic toward clinical validation and commercialization. With a more automated and scalable bioinformatics environment in place, PinkDx can expand validation efforts while giving its scientific and technical teams more capacity to focus on advancing the diagnostic itself. Just as importantly, the foundation gives PinkDx room to expand its technology capabilities as its clinical, operational, and commercial needs evolve.
