United Way Suncoast

How United Way Suncoast Built a National Community Engagement Platform with AWS

The Client

United Way Suncoast is one of Florida's largest United Way organizations, serving communities across five counties through programs that advance educational opportunity, financial security, and community resiliency. Beyond its regional impact, United Way Suncoast is leading the development of GoUnited, a nationwide digital platform designed to help local United Way chapters modernize donor engagement and strengthen community connections across the country.

As the sponsoring organization behind GoUnited, United Way Suncoast partnered with RevStar to transform a successful pilot into a scalable, multi-tenant platform capable of supporting United Way chapters nationwide.

DESCRIPTION

RevStar partnered with United Way Suncoast to evolve GoUnited into a scalable, multi-tenant community engagement platform secured by AWS-native threat detection, centralized security visibility, and cloud-native architecture capable of supporting nationwide chapter expansion.

RESULTS

Established a production-ready national platform supporting multi-chapter onboarding, personalized donor engagement, AI-powered assistance, and community experiences while validating nationwide adoption across the United Way network.

The Challenge

As United Way Suncoast expanded GoUnited into a national platform serving multiple organizations, the need for consistent threat detection, centralized security visibility, and compliance across its AWS environment became increasingly important.

Rather than each chapter independently maintaining its own donor engagement tools and digital experiences, United Way Suncoast envisioned a scalable platform that could deliver personalized community engagement, simplify chapter onboarding, and provide a consistent experience across the broader United Way network. As the platform evolved, the organization also recognized the need for a consistent, organization-wide approach to security monitoring and compliance that could support future growth without increasing operational complexity.

Building a national platform required an architecture capable of supporting multiple organizations while maintaining chapter-level configuration, data isolation, and long-term scalability without requiring platform redesign as additional chapters joined.

Small-Empowered-Teams

The Problem

United Way Suncoast needed a scalable and secure way to evolve GoUnited from a successful pilot into a production-ready national platform capable of supporting multiple United Way chapters. The platform needed to strengthen donor engagement, empower chapter administrators, and introduce intelligent, AI-powered experiences while providing the flexibility to onboard new organizations efficiently as adoption expanded.

The Solution

RevStar acted as United Way Suncoast's strategic technology partner, architecting the next generation of the GoUnited platform to support nationwide adoption. Working as an extension of the client's team, RevStar designed a cloud-native, multi-tenant platform that enables chapter-aware configuration, personalized donor experiences, self-service administration, and scalable community engagement across multiple United Way organizations.

To support long-term platform operations, RevStar also established organization-wide security monitoring and governance across United Way Suncoast's AWS environment. By implementing centralized threat detection, including Amazon GuardDuty Runtime Monitoring, continuous compliance monitoring aligned with the CIS AWS Foundations Benchmark, and consolidated security visibility, the organization gained a consistent, scalable approach to protecting the platform while simplifying security oversight for its lean IT team.

Results

RevStar helped United Way Suncoast transform GoUnited into a production-ready national community engagement platform capable of supporting organizations across the United Way network. The platform validated its long-term vision by enabling multi-chapter expansion while establishing centralized security visibility and standardized compliance monitoring across seven AWS accounts. RevStar's continuous security monitoring evaluates United Way Suncoast's AWS environment against 772 industry-standard security controls (CIS Benchmark and AWS Foundational Security Best Practices), maintaining a 76.6% compliance score across the organization's 7-account architecture supporting nationwide chapter expansion.
